From our campsite in the Basque Country, the ocean is never far away! Located just fifteen kilometers from the coast, La Petite Rhune campsite is ideal for enjoying the pleasures of the ocean while staying in a peaceful, natural setting. Tourism in the Basque country, between land and sea, offers a wide variety of pleasures: walks along the water’s edge, swimming, water sports or cultural discoveries. The seaside resorts of the Basque coast are easily accessible by car or public transport from the village of Sare (Sare), for a richly varied getaway.

A stroll on the beach of Saint-Jean-de-Luz

Just 14 kilometers from Sare, Saint-Jean-de-Luz is one of the pearls of the coast. You’ll love its large family beach, protected by dikes and ideal for children. Stroll along the bay to the hill of Sainte-Barbe, visit the Maison Louis XIV or stroll through the historic pedestrian streets, steeped in Basque traditions . Don’t miss the lively Place Louis XIV, just a stone’s throw from the port. Ciboure is located just across the Nivelle river, which acts as a border. It also boasts a small marina and fishing port. Ciboure is also home to Maurice Ravel’s birthplace and, at the end of the bay, the hamlet of Socoa. Shared between Ciboure and Urrugne, Socoa is known for its XVIIᵉ fort and is also renowned for its restaurants and nautical activities. A visit to Socoa is the perfect complement to your seaside immersion.

Visit Biarritz: the pearl of the Basque coast
